Having no children meant that there would be no one to carry on the family name or perform the necessary rituals after one’s death.

However, this idea is not universally accepted. Some people believe that having children is a burden rather than a blessing, and that being childless can be liberating. Ultimately, whether or not to have children is a personal decision that depends on many factors, including cultural background, personal values, and individual circumstances.  F/B – 07/23/2011
